A major benefit of TravelOptions is that because it runs on
D3 from Raining Data it can
run efficiently and reliably on low cost PC servers.
This can lead to massive savings when compared to the mid range servers required by many systems both in terms of initial cost and yearly maintenance.
We can run different versions of D3 either natively, on Unix
(including Linux and SCO) or on Windows NT.This gives enormous flexibility
to clients in terms of platform and gives access to the communication
benefits of Unix and NT.
Either workstations or serially connected dumb terminals or a combination
of both can be used. Smaller operators tend to opt for networked
workstations which allows key stroking in and out of TravelOptions
and into other opened Windows applications. Busy, high volume reservations
departments tend to prefer banks of dumb terminals.
